Osteopathy & Babies

As a mother of four children, I have both a personal and professional interest in the treatment of babies and children and as a consequence did post graduate courses in cranial osteopathy, completing courses with the Upledger Institute and the Sutherland Cranial College as well as in paediatrics and plagiocephaly (flat head) as well as a paediatric first aid course.

Following graduation 12 years ago, I built up experience in this area working in an Oxford clinic which specialised exclusively in working with mums, mums to be, babies and children. As a trained infant massage instructor, I sometimes show parents how to massage their baby in order to reduce symptoms

Cranial osteopathy is gentle, safe and effective for babies and children.

Very specific, skilled, light pressure is applied where necessary to assist the natural ability of the body to release stresses and tensions built up either from pregnancy, birth or after the birth. This allows the baby to relax and become much happier and more settled.I may also teach gentle stretching techniques and infant massage alongside positioning techniques to parents which can help to reduce symptoms more quickly..

Cranial Osteopathy can help with:

Crying, screaming and irritability, unsettled baby
Feeding dificulties
Sleep problems
post birth check up

The practice has regular referrals from local midwives and health visitors. My work links with many professional organisations such as:

The Pelvic Partnership

International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM)

Oxford Parent Infant Project (OXPIP)

Le Leche League

The Hyperactive Children’s Society

National Autistic Society (South Bucks) – Rainbow Club

Association of Infant Mental Health (UK)

London Orthotics Consultancy (plagiocephaly)
